Help with Call of Duty 2 Campaign...

Now I remember why I parked this game and never finished it. The Campaign is cool because we got better graphics, faster responses but it was the beginning of more Run & Gun than wait, be tactical and choose the right moment to strike.

We lost Rate of Fire, we lost the ability of Quick Saves and we got the dreaded die, die and die again so the campaign feels huge.

I am stuck at the top of the Silo, where I have to wait about 5 minutes for reinforcements and do away with the mortars crew. I can find the mortars and kill them but when I get to the minute and a half, I see the red dots or the compass signaling where the mortars are or will be but somehow, one of the mortars finds its way and I am dead. Frustated is not the right word I would choose but I am ready to kick somebody in the teeth!

I tried to get some cheats (goggled a bunch of sites for it) so I could at least be done with this choke point but no matter what I try, they don't work... I am on version 1.2 (even though I downloaded patch 1.3 :shock.

So, can anyone here point me in the right direction, or tell me what can I do to pass to the next map, I would really hate to park the game once again.

it was years ago, i really can't remember exactly how i did it.

google for cod 2 walkthrough for some ideas...

- This is the toughest part of the mission, specifically on higher
difficulties. Basically, the Krauts are going to counterattack, and you know
it's one of those Saving Private Ryan moments. Anyhow, the basic idea is that
the Germans send in 2-man artillery crews, and they're trying to hit your
position on the silo. You must snipe only the 2-man crews, while your allies
deal with the ground threats. Each artillery crew is marked on your waypoint
indicator. Look where it is, then aim in that direction. The key is to always
aim at the one that has been on your compass the longest, as this means it is
most likely to fire at your position. You can only take a set amount of
artillery shots on this one before you always die. Always shoot the man who
plants the device or is moving it to the set location. If the Germans set an
artillery up, then all they need is for infantry to operate. Hence, it is
important to shoot the men carrying them before they can plant them on the
ground. If not, it's just one more item to worry about. The attacks will occur
on both faces, and reload the sniper rifle whenever there are no stars on the
map. This should lead you to victory. Climb back down after the Shermans arrive
to deal with the darn Germans. Your SGT is proud, and wants to give you a
Romanian cookie.

Yeah, I guess I should have also said that I Goggled Walkthroughs, even those with images but they didn't help much.

I guess I am just going to have to endure the multiple funerals that my teammates will have endure

Thanks for the assist but, if any of you remember a cheat that worked, I would love to find it so I can move/continue on.

i may have to re-install it now, and crank out the fraps - a project for the weekend.

it was the first online shooter i really got into, before i discovered bf2...i remember the campaign being fun too.

so it works ok on x64?

Not a single glitch with installation, not even Comp Mode.

I am not the brightest lamp in the hotel, that is for sure, sometimes, the easy way out is hard for me to swallow or come up with.

Seeing as to how I was unable to find cheats and pass the silo map on Veteran, something dawned on me and I decided to try it on Easy and I did, I then was able to advance to the next mission and I went back to use Veteran... all is well now and I continue to gallantly die every so often because the game wants me to hurry up!
