Hello all

I recently installed a full version of Win7 and much like I have alwasy done, I copied over the themes files from my old "Windows 95 Plus!" program I have to which I use a group of the "Nature" sound files for all my OS activation sounds.

For the most part most are OK as they always have been but a few now are rather chopped as far as playing the whole wav file.

I am using a Sound Blaster XFidelity Board with all the proper drivers.

Now I did notice the same when I played with Vista a few years ago and to be honest I really just think this is something in the OS.

So is this true, does Win7 have some issues with older wav files?

Should I convert them to something else?

Is it something to do with the version of Media player it comes with?

Thanks for any help.

I have some old wav files that I've had since Win 98 and they still work OK. About the only possibility is the bitrate of the old wav files. Download and install the free "Audacity" audio recording program. Bring the old wav file into Audacity and then "export" the sound as "WAV (Microsoft) signed 16 bit PCM". Then try this new wav file to see if it plays better. Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
