Solved Help with getting a new GPU

Hey guys! I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this but I hope this is ^_^

I was wondering if my power source can handle a Nvidia GTX 970 that I'm getting for Christmas, I currently have a AMD Radeon HD 7850, but sadly the sticker from my power source has dropped and I don't know how powerful it is. My power source can handle this GPU without any problems, and I was wondering if there's someone who knows about this stuff. Thanks in advance!

Do you have any memory of the model number of the PSU you have bought? If you bought the PSU online, you may be able to check the history of the things you have bought to check for the PSU model.

Ping is horrible for servers overseas in US and Europe.

An HD7850 will run off a 450W PSU so I'd say that's the lowest you've got. A GTX 970 recommends 500W minimum so it's a possibility you could be very close to the limit, if not under. At 500W I'd only be happy with a top of the range Corsair or other top manufacturer. I'd recommend a 600W for some headroom.

Really you need to find out what PSU you have. I take it you've opened the PC up to look at the PSU?

Yeah, I've opened my PC since it keeps cooler that way too. But atleast on this side it doesn't say the manufacturer of the PSU

I would, it's always best to know you have ample wattage from your PSU, and that it's of a high standard.

I'd definitely agree with the HX750, great PSUs.

Well the recommended PSU for a 980 Classified is 500W. The 980 max power draw is 165W, so a 970 would be less than that.

I thought it was. The 980 pulls close to half what a 780 Can Pull. But that has been the trend lately.
