Help with pci / pcie on soundcards

Evening all , I,m looking into soundcards , to go into my MSI Z77 MPower motherboard , it has 3 of the full size PCIE slots and 3 of the little ones . With the soundcard can I use the ones with PCI or have they got to be PCIE specific ? Thanks for reading.

The board has no PCI slots. You must use a PCI-E soundcard. PCI is physically incompatible with all of the PCI-E slots.

A PCI-E X1 soundcard will work in the X1 or X16 slots.

If this is for your new build, I suggest trying the onboard sound first. You may find it perfectly adequate. It doesn't use a lot of CPU cycles, and it may be less likely to crash Windows than an add-in card might.

Cheers mate I was almost sure that was the fact . I was having a blonde moment I think . I settled on the creative sounblster recon 3d it's awsome.
