Solved Help With Unwanted Toolbars

I updated my free virus program Avira or something and it gave me an unwanted toolbar. I removed it EVERYWHERE and it is off Chrome but still on FF. I searched Google for a toolbar remover and would you believe, it was loaded with them. So now my laptop has about 4 or 5 unwanted toolbars.... removing them everywhere does nothing. Beware of downloadable software called Toolbar cleaner.I downloaded it from Cnet which I thought was reliable....NOT.

How can I remove this horrible things? They won't even allow me to search it makes me fly to their ad pages. Ugh. It should be against the law to download something without permission on someone's computer.

I assure you its not spam filled and such, it actually works. Once done open it, and navigate to toolbar section. Select batch uninstall option and select all the different toolbar u wish to remove. Also perform a powerful scan if you can.

I just uninstall them with Revo uninstaller.

I went into Control Panel and deleted them all. I went up to the toolbars and deactivated them and they still show up.

Ok also, i when uninstalling them. Use the powerful scanner to help remove some leftover junk

I downloaded the link and not a one of them appeared on any list. It asked me if I wanted to scan before I was finished checking the list and now I can't figure out how to get the scan...

I think I need to uninstall something... can I uninstall all the HP wild tangent games? I never play them.

edit: I deleted something else and ran the power scan. Everything is gone on chrome but both
still how up on Firefox. WhiteSmoke and Search.conduit are the culprits. NOW when I start FF I get the message that Firefox can't find Search conduit and wants me to try again. Whitesmoke is still there. The only option I have is "try again". I don't want to try again.

I finally found the FF toolbar manager. They don't make it easy. I deleted both and they are GONE!!!!!

There is another remover you can try: AdwCleaner Download instructions are on the download page.
You could try running it to see if there are any leftovers.

Man today you have to be very careful when installing software. Never use the default install always choose custom and pay close attention to what is checked.

If you go to the link in my post, you can run the tool there and it will automatically populate your system specs, see step #5.

Like me, a good percentage of members here use Microsoft's Security Essentials (MSE).
Just pick your version Windows 7 32bit, save it to your desktop and start the installation.

It's not a toolbar cleaner. It's the most recommended Spyware scan we have here used by countless thousands of satisfied users without a single complaint, and it downloads from the SAS site, not CNET.

As with all programs you install from now on, check every checkbox choice, every page before you click Next, during a Custom Install.

With SAS I also go into the Preferences and uncheck everything about it starting up with Windows and checking for Updates on the General and Updates tab. This should remove it from the Startup but if not uncheck it and everything else from Startup (except your AV) following the steps for a Clean Boot in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7

It has been a while since I d/L'd the original so when you start the install you should still "LOOK" before you click on "next".

But, I'd be pretty sure the only item you would have to double check is accepting or denying the EULA.

I can certainly sympathize about your nervousness, anything done in life has a degree of danger attached to it.

• Save the D/L to your desktop, save any open work, and close all other programs.
• Click on the saved file and step through the install wizard, the EULA may already be checked, and that is okay.
• If it asks you if you want an icon on the desktop say ok.
• If it asks you if you want a link in your Start Up Menu say ok.
• It will review your choices and when you click on next it will start the install.
• When done you will see a checked box asking if you want to start the program say ok or finish.
• The program will open, and you might see an IE browser window open explaining the new install, you can just close that and you should see the program interface.
• Click on Update to the right and allow it to update, when done click on Scan, select your drives, it won't hurt to select them all, then check on Activate scan boost, check scan inside .zip archives, then Start Complete Scan.
• Don't use your machine while it is scanning, (it will take longer), and find something to do for about a half hour.

A complete scan on my machine takes about a half hour, yours maybe more, maybe less.
