Hi i'm trying to do a clean install of windows 7 upgrading from XP. I checked my system first as its quite old but my specs are fine. The problem came right at the beginning of the installation when it says my CD/DVD driver is missing. I googled the problem and tried alot of the solutions but im still stuck. I've attatched a screen shot of my problem
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Load bios defaults and try again? Maybe, reburn the .iso at slower speed?

Did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - Download - Microsoft Windows This will tell you if you PC can run Windows 7. In your first message you said the specs were OK, but did not say if you ran the Advisor. Running this might also point out any problems with your DVD drive. == This just hit me, since your PC is old, are you sure it has a DVD drive and not just a CD drive?

Yeah the DVD drive works fine can install other apps play films ect. I don't understand the problem really as it has to boot off the DVD to get to the stage where it says DVD drivers missing.

The problem is almost always a bad installer. But you can try to insert the SATA drivers from the chipset found on the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC or mobo. SATA Driver - Load in Windows 7 or Vista Setup

I would also as suggested reset the BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI. If you have an EFI Boot disk in the BIOS Boot order then it requires special steps for installing with UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

Next wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command

hi cheers for help seems to have solved its self. Booted up this morning with DVD in. No mention of DVD driver missing on install. ran through install with no trouble.
