Hi guys pc shutting down?

Hi all im new hear but not to pc's but have a dilemma.....my pc is shutting down after about 10-15 mins, and in shutdown i mean powering off,no bsod no logs?(under no intensive gaming/graphics just idle)...i thought overheat and opened her up(was very dusty) but air sprayed all out and is like new,checked and re-seated all connections and ram and worked again for about 2 weeks......problem sorted i thought,was just me being lazy and not cleaning out my pc! but 3 days ago done it again after about 20 mins of surfing.....complete power off,so reboot gets to loading all the win 7 bumpf and off it goes again,reboot gets to post screen then powers off......my psu is working fine(one of the top jeantech) and has the voltage its putting out which is correct and more than ample for my rig.Now why im posting is my theory is the cpu is overheating,but the heatsink is a good one and the fan is working fine,could the paste of dried out?I built it all myself(prob bout 3-4 years ago) as i always do but ive never known the paste to stop working(but never had same cpu for so long lol always upgraded),so am i wrong?Im hoping it is just a matter of cleaning the heatsink n cpu and re pasting cause im pretty skint on the money front atm.What i want to know is would you guys start with trying the cpu like i think or do any of you have a better idea?

The only two reasons a PC would shut down without any errors before hand is either:

A) Overheating

B) Lack of proper power

If your PSU has been given a proven clean bill of health then you may indeed have some bad thermal tranference between the processor and the heat sink. Remove the heat sink, clean off the compound from both the sink and processor, and give it a new application of compound.
