Solved Hi There, I cant rip CD's -

Hello Folks
Now I have clicked back on win media center and restarted machine.
still get --WMP can not rip one or more (tracks?)

I have been all over the net on this , it is a problem for many people, one guy even had a program that unclicked WMP off then on again, which a few folks chimed in "Works" but when I interrogated the guy who had this home made program (on another forum) he fessed up it included spyware. As always or almost always, if the program is free-your info is/are the product.

So I guess folks (Mods) have given up on this issue cause i have no more guidance post coming in, and it is not fixed.

There is a pandemic killing folks out there to day April 21 2020 leaving a trail of valid tears in its wake, and making many face fears there is no easy answers for, to all of whom I say, I see you, you are not alone, you are seen, I have lost loved ones too. we are a single cry to the universe in mourning.

I will come back here later to see if more help has shown up.

be safe, take care of one another.

Reviews

Wither thank you, despite spy ware reviews most likely posted by competitors, this program worked,

I have done all that is suggested here, and in others posts, WMP is not gonna move to a real on / off

get on with life position, I added the K-lite down load to WMP to be able To use/play Flv files,

but would like to convert them to mp4 so they are universal. is there a way to get express ripper to convert them ?

Express Ripper is for audio files.

You can import a .flv into the free VLC Media Player. Then, select Media, Convert/Save to convert it to .mp4.

.mp4 audio is actually either .mp2 or .mp3 (mpeg-1 audio layer 3) audio.

You could also use something like this-

CD Ripper Software. Easily Convert CDs to MP3 or WAV

There's a lot of for-pay software also but that one's free.

this link goes to NCH ripper, that works for a few days, even song names included, then asks for money, if you click i will buy later it rips one song, click i will buy later again and you get another one song ripped to your music file, loose and in a weird order, then i made a file for it, put songs in it and put on a 128 GB flash to my marantz and the file will not show on my marantz CD player.
Look, I know Im driving folks nuts but it not intentional,
so deleted the above linked ripper,

unclicked and reclicked media everthing back on in programs and features
still i get this

"windows can not access the file
you might not have access to comp where fill is stored
or proxie settings might not be right."

the guy who sold this to me said it was dual core, is that a reversible issue
thought: Could my hard drive be going bad

How does a CD player play anything on a USB flash drive? A CD Player plays CD's which are in the Audio-CD format. That requires software to burn your playlist to that format on the CD.

I also don't understand the connection between your CD Player and your computer. I don't know which Marantz model you have but I looked at one and the only outputs it had was either to speakers or a headset. I suppose you could connect to your computer with cables from the speaker outputs but, since the player has an amplifier, I'd be careful how to do that. No matter, since I don't know how Windows is seeing your flash drive.

I don't know what "unclicked.....................................................this" means.

If you connected your USB flash drive to your computer and then tried to play a music file from it using any number of free music players, there shouldn't be any problems unless the flash drive isn't formatted properly.

Hello wither and thanks for yours to me. And you sure darned earned your pay warning some one not to plug a power amp into a computer, cause your mother board capacitors will explode like big firecrackers:picnic:

When i said clicked and unclicked, I meant what i was advised to do here in the windows media options in "Programs and features" When i got to them, they were all set for "On or use" But WMP did not work! so i clicked them all off and on again,

FYI this is a trick many XP users do to reset WMP, when it flubs up, I have seen poster's write, " I have to click WMP on and off every time I rip" which is way too often for a consumer product and there is zero excuse for and in a civilized country would have been class actionable, in this regard gates has set a Virus on the world that sickens the world with a endless science project that subtracts greatly from a persons personal growth time from inter acting with others. Period. This is why i love you guys, you all use the machine so well, you still have time to go fishing and tumble in the grass with children.
This click "off and ON again" trick was shown to me by the head mod at a XP forum. I have used that method about 20 times on XP, so i did it as I was advised here on my 7-But it did nothing to fix problem.
Now I must thank you greatly for your assumptions and questions about audio equipment, as it made me see instantly how my lack of computer knowledge must appear to many folks here, about which most have been nothing but very kind.

Audio Equipment.
Welcome to my office, I am at home on this subject. I am not a Audiophile, nor are most who call themselves such, But i love music-
CD rotate-rs or platter/players and their laser readers generate a ton of noise, No marantz CD players have a amp in them I know of except a sort of pre-pre amp that Via a RCA connection sends a signal to a out board "Pre Amp" and from there by way of a RCA connector to a out board power amp, from there via speaker wire to speakers. The world famous "Saul Marantz Sound" died around the 5005 model CD player, which was buckets of mid range (your mothers voice) at every level of sound, which was a most hypnotic tone, with near zero listeners fatigue, but then to stay market worthy cause company's were doing it,, around the 6000 series players, they then (Marantz) with great turpitude* installed a USB port on the front of their CD players, which, if you open that 128 GB USB stick and pick out the noisy flashing LED*, load USB with lossless music files and plug into the front USB port of the CD player-
gives you

More 3 dimensional bloom into the room

no motor spin noise
no laser noise
no CD player platter break downs-thus no music, and less repairs bills from repair shop time.
No scratched CD's.
Fatter Wallet.

All the above is why CD Loss-Less file ripping is so important
*This means less CD players wear out, less get sold and repaired and less CD's are sold from "re-buying a scratched CD" you love, if its still made. All of which is very nice "If you can get the gates OS" to cut you your single legal copy lossless file of a CD you bought.
* Marantz has a control to Turn all leds off on their player because it clearly makes the machine sound better, with LEDs gone there's more "Bloom" into the room, this lack of bloom has been vinyl record user's complaint for years, led's are hard on pre-amps too, Leds are very easy to yank too, but, leds "seem" not to bother power amps, but CD players, and pre amps truly are sweeter with out them.

I'm in a hurry tonight so I haven't digested everything your said. However, if you can connect the player directly to speakers for playback, then it has to have an internal amp. What is the model number for your player?

Also, you also didn't clarify how you're using the USB drive.

I have never seen such unscientific rubbish as in that last jim davis post. Where do I begin ?

lasers are silent and don't make any noise
CD players don't scratch disks - they are read by lasers
LEDs are not 'hard on pre-amps'
yanking out LEDs - WHAT ?
preamps are sweeter without LEDs - good lord !

'Marantz has a control to Turn all leds off on their player because it clearly makes the machine sound better' - if there is such a switch, it's probably because some folk find LEDs on equalizers etc distracting.

As a graduate physicist who worked for many years in electrical engineering (mainly computers and digital electronics), I am truly amazed the all the rubbish this guy churns out.

As I said in my last post, I didn't have time to digest everything he said. Since I have time tonight, I re-read that post and have to agree with your assessment. However, I can look past that kind of thing and try to help get a solution. For some reason, Jim hasn't responded to my last post.

Hello Mr. Wither, and thank you for yours.
As I had stated this to follow, in another post-
My info Quote
The world famous "Saul Marantz Sound" died around the 5005 model CD player, which was buckets of mid range (your mothers voice) at every level of sound, which was a most hypnotic tone, with near zero listeners fatigue, but then to stay market worthy cause company's were doing it,, around the 6000 series players, they then (Marantz) with great turpitude* installed a USB port on the front of their CD players. No marantz CD players have a amp in them I know of except a sort of pre-pre amp that Via a RCA connection sends a signal to a out board "Pre Amp" and from there by way of a RCA connector to a out board power amp then on to speakers via speaker wire end Qoute

This putting of a USB port right on the CD player as a option, as stated before, meant a real revenue loss to marantz in repairs Etc. because using the USB right out of the player, still used the players Circuit board, but shut down many moving parts known for needing repair and thus losing them repair money.
And cd's only needed to be recorded and archived in perfect condition. But they had to do it, because other company's machines were getting a bit of their market, not for better sound but better versatility and more "Bells and Whistles", I.e. a usb port on a lessor quality sounding machine.
I have 4 CD players now, but for this thread I am using and making reference to the Marantz CD 6005, in which i use a 128 GB flash stick.
But long after the CD 6001-2-3-4 and 5 models had replaced the marantz CD 5005, the CD 5005 still had a page at the marantz web site, when latter models had disappeared, because of its sound, it just has a certain magic to the ear, that can not be measured with a calculator.
hope that helps
j

Dear Mr. BadCRC, I dearly want to congratulate you on your making it thru a most wicked Diploma process as we have in the united states, you must have some deep endurance for which you most be honored, and i am sure what you think, makes perfect sense on paper.
How ever, Marantz's and my observations on sound, are intuitive ones, and as Einstein was so rapid to point out, imagination/intuition is more important then intelligence, thus, making the poet correct who said, "in some subjects, you can add up the parts, but never get the correct Sum"
Music in not of a known mathematical "Experience" nor as is a "time stopping kiss" one must be a master of both these known but different universes, that means one must be a "Amphibian" a school of thought and experience, that takes tools of sentimentality, poetry and feeling. There is no known school of training for these, and those who have them both make no small amounts of money at company's like Marantz, or per se, perfume factory's, this leap from one measure of understanding to another is best exampled in a physics poem I heard-
"Mass" times "Movement" Divided by a "Lack of Space" must equal "Patience" or all "Hell Breaks Out".
As to your questionable and not very polite out burst "of opinion" I forgive you for its inert insults.
I am so reminded of the guy, who the British Geographers Society, who while in public, was stripped of every degree and credential he had spent a life earning, after he presented a essay and picture of a newly discovered animal, the "Society" had deemed a fake, think it was a "Aardvark" or maybe a Platypus Duck, any case as they threw him out the front door from their high wood paneled halls, there on the wall behind them was a huge picture of many animals from around the world, including the one he had just presented to them, down in the left hand corner of the art work, I believe. Call the folks at Marantz and talk to their R and D guys, it may be fun for you,
I would even bet they may invite you to their labs, as "Audio Engineers" are widely known for their politeness in scientific conversation. and yes there is a switch for turning off the leds, and yes they state very clearly it is to improve sound quality, which it most certainly does, and most so yes, I concur there are many music company's selling "Fairy Dust" but what ever you do, "Shine On"

Well Doctor, Now that you probably been to the Marantz Site, and made a rather public spectical of your bed side manner, I am sure many await your further wisdom on the subjective//intuitive subject of knowing things you have not even researched. May i suggest you reach into the apology shelf
for a resolution

PS My name is Mr. Davis not to be prefixed with rubbish along the way.
PSS there is a whole industry built around taking scratches off CD's almost every library system
And Hi End music seller has expensive machinery and a craftsman to operate it.
As they scratch very easily on and out of their travels to a CD tray

have a good one

I am putting CD's in the Comp cd tray and trying to rip them to make lossless files, and make my single legal copy to put on a 128 GB flash stick, that plugs into the front of the stand alone CD player box that also will take a Flash drive, then by RCA cable to a pre amp then by RCA Cable to a power amp ETC.

But as the title of this thread suggests-------I can not get windows 7 ripping to work consistently,
but/which i have somehow gotten to work right on and off, I.E rip lossless files. walking towards the computer never knowing if it will or will not rip a CD, is ridiculous

Stay safe out there, even tho its getting very irritating in this heat wearing a sweaty mask

Okay. Somehow I thought you were connecting the Marantz to your computer but appears not to be the case.

Apparently, the Marantz got in here because when you added files to a USB stick and played them from the stick in your Marantz, the "titles?"' aren't showing up but you can play the files. Do I have that correct?

Long ago I asked about copy protection and you said there was none. As a result, I'm assuming these are not commercial discs. Where do these discs come from?

Dear Mr. Wither
please excuse my getting back late to you on this, it was not out of disrespect
the cd's I buy most times come from ebay. I have boycotted amazon cause my bible says have "no other gods before me"
other files are hi res i buy one place or another.
some are squenced up mp 3's but sound great despite the beating they took getting that way.
I have never owned a cd that you could not make your one free legal copy from, except my one free legal copy goes on to a flash drive, then to my marantz USB input on front of player.
many times I run a RCA cable from my comp audio out to my pre amp, which then goes to my power "switching" amp that has 2 million, 8 hundred thousand Plus over sampling, then on to speakers
(BadCRC you might wanna study this sampling subject before making any decrees about it)
its odd Mr Wither,
but on my system, mp 4's in 720, coming in off the computer sound almost as warm/good as vinyl records sometimes.
you have been most kind opening computer doors for me, and really, I am most thankful.

OK Folks
the short of it is, the very fine Mr Torchwood suggested i down load the NCH ripper which turned out to be a real nice program that bloomed into nag ware from hell after a few uses, as a matter of fact, well never mind.
But it seems to have reset my WMP settings, cause after deleted the NCH nag ware and then going into programs on my c drive and pulling out many NCH left overs of dubious cause and worry that Don't Uninstall at least on my machine-
The WMP ripped cd's fine.
So I mark this thread Solved and am so very thankful for the journey or maze, or psychiatric intervention
