Solved Hiberfil.sys 6gb why

I have Sleep and Hibernation disabled. I don't use either one of them. Never have used either. I shut my computer off when done.
The problem is I still have hiberfil.sys with 6 GB.
Can I remove that 6 GB or does it do something else other that Hibernation?
What I'm not understanding about this 6 GB?

If you want to disable the hibernation . Open an elevated Command Prompt and type this command below

powercfg –h off

Thank you VistaKing. I did that a long time ago but I just tried it again and got (Invalid parameter). I'm assuming that means it is already off.
I also have hibernation off in Power Options along with Sleep.
I was under the understanding that once doing that and rebooting the file would go away. I really don't want to remove hiberfil.sys if it does something else I'm not aware of.

I have been through the Tutorials and online but of course I could of missed something.

Once you do powercfg -h off it should automatically remove the hiberfil.sys file . To my understanding all it is , is a file for hibernation storing info in memory while the PC is in the hibernate mode . If you don't use it you may delete it manually or delete it from a LIVE CD or try Safe Mode

What you might do is move that file to say the "Download" folder then do a restart to see if anything happens. If you are unable to restart then go to "Safe Mode" and move it back to the original folder. . . Good luck.

Jack did you open an elevated cmd window and type in:

powercfg -h off

I have done this and the hiberfil file went away immediately. Deleting it will be safe.

Okay I went through all the steps again in Power Options and in command prompt and did a complete shut down and a restart and the file is gone. I checked properties of C and I got my 6 GB back. I have also check in my grandpa computer for heberfil.sys and it's not their either.

I glad also but I really don't know what fixed it. All I did was change the setting and put them back were they were. They are now as they were before I started the thread. The mysteries of computers.

I have typed powercgf many times.

Just to add, even if you did delete hibernation file while the hibernation mode is still active and available it would do no harm. Would just be recreated on next reboot. Same with the page file. Deleting them will not harm Windows.
