Hi,
ive got my system to go into hibernation using s3 acpi, and usb remote. also it will come out of hibernation using the remote and or usb keyboard.
My system is used as a htpc and was wondering is there a way to hibernate the system with the power button of my tv (monitor) ie:- when monitor isnt detected.is there a setting im missing.
basicly i have a plasma tv and onkyo 607 receiver. connected via vierra link. so when i power the tv down the receiver powers down . now it would be fantastic if it put the htpc into hibernation also..

if its not possible then surly it should be..

hope you understand;)

This is probably possible using the task scheduler, but I honestly can't think as to how exactly you would rig it.
Perhaps someone else does.

the short cut isnt a problem, ive done that ... i just need the trigger ov my tv/monitor going into stand by... if i switch off the tv i get sound that a device has been removed.. same when i switch on... ive looked in events and cannot see what had changed... ive found display and display switch... in sourses

this must be possible...

I know you can configure log event - system - display as a trigger
but I do not know the id of the event.

By this though it would appear a separate one could be created to wake it when the display is powered on too.

We just need someone that knows the id for you.

Actually we're outside my personal experience with the scheduler now, but your logic on that note makes sense.

Thanks for your time in this post maguscreed, i know i saw a guru looking on ere but hasnt left a comment.. it would be so easy if the list for trigger just said monitor off, or no display detected. or hardware removal/display..

i am a total noob with task sheduller. never used it to tell you the truth... but im sure ill be getting into it now...

I know it can be assigned to literally anything, we're just missing the last little detail to get you settled here.

The only thing I found is how to set windows to change state based on light level (requires a cam)
I can't find anyone that has managed to do this you can copy off of though.
