BSOD when trying to Hibernate or Sleep

Hello,

This is my first post in this Forum. I hope I've posted it in the right place.
I very rarely need to use forums, nearly always manage to sort out problems
myself, but this time I'm stumped.

My apologies for such a long question, and for all the numbered bullet points, but
I hope they will help to clarify the issue.

1. My PC is a Dell Inspiron Desktop 580, running Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit version, 6.1.7601

2. The problem is BSOD when I try to go into hibernate or sleep mode.

3. Problems started immediately after some power glitches on 6 April.
My PC was on, but had shut down and restarted.

4. Now when I try to go into hibernate or sleep mode, I get the dreaded BlueScreen.
BSOD is viewable for only a few seconds before PC reboots itself,
but it is just about long enough to see that it is reporting some
malfunction associated with USB.

5. I have a USB-ISS Enhanced USB-I2C Module purchased from Devantech in July 2013.
This is a small board which implements a USB to I2C interface. It has worked perfectly
up 'til now, and in fact still appears to be working fine.

6. But it seems that the problem is related specifically this module, because when this is
unplugged and I try to go into hibernate or sleep mode, I do NOT get BlueScreen.

7. The BlueScreen problem on hibernate/sleep happens when the USB-ISS board
is plugged into ANY USB port, not just the one in use when power glitches occured.

8. Meanwhile, the USB-ISS module is working normally.
As long as I don't try sleep or hibernate everything is fine.

9. Plugging USB-ISS module into an old Laptop, there are no problems when I go into hibernate,
(although drivers were not installed).

10. Although there is no BlueScreen when USB-ISS is removed, there is now a malfunction
which always occurs: When I try to go into hibernate or sleep mode
the PC but refuses to go into mode, but just wakes up again after about 5 secs.

11. I suspect damage to my PC due to the power glitches, perhaps a diode or protection device
has failed. But I have run all the diagnostic test in Boot mode, taking several hours,
and all tests PASS.

12. Is it possible that the USB circuitry in my PC has been damaged in such a way that:
a) It always causes immediate wake-up from sleep or hibernate
b) When any USB port is connected to the USB-ISS board, and only the USB-ISS board,
it causes a Blue Screen failure when attempting sleep or hibernate.
c) The damage is such that it is not picked up by diagnostic tests ?

b) Implies that the USB-ISS module interface to USB is unique in some way
compared with all other USB devices on my PC.

13. Or is it possible that it this a software fault? -- seems unlikely to me
I could restore backup from before the power glitches, but strongly suspect
this would not fix problem.

14. I have uploaded the captured .zip file as per the instructions for a BSOD post.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having described the problem at such length, I wonder if anyone has come across anything like this, or
if anyone can offer any explanation for what is happening?

I'm very partial to using Hibernate -- I like to be able to switch on and have
everything exactly as it was. If there is no simple fix I guess I'll have to get used
to life without it.

If anyone can offer any advice, many thanks.

Hi KenA.

Disable USB Selective Suspend.
USB Selective Suspend - Turn On or Off

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.

Hello again,

I have been rummaging around on the EnTech website, but cannot find anything related to softEngine-x64 or se64a.sys. The search facility returns nothing. I cannot anywhere on the site where driver updates are made available. I'm very reluctant to try their Forum, because that would launch me into yet another long time-consuming process. Can you offer a bit more advice on how to update this driver?
Many thanks.

No. Because I dont have any more idea about it other than that I posted.

If updates are not available, you need to uninstall the program.
