Hirens bootable cd 15.0 and MSE

From my point of view the 2 items labeled $-MS do nothing but facilitate the maintenance of current legal paid MS OSs. But are they legal?? Does MS care??

Apparently 'binary' (PE ... pre-installed) strings belonging/copywrite by MS are not legal to download.

I have questioned this, but I've been told it is a copyright protection. I have let my questions go.

You may also notice that Hiren and Pankaj's home page does not 'host' the download of "Hirens bootable cd".

Hello Jacee

I appreciate as will many other users of Hirens you popping in here to offer your advice. I totally understand the question of whether or not certain programs/applications are legal in the zip but im not sure that is the issue here. There were very few additions from 14.1 to 15.0 and 14.1 comes back from all scans clean. Therefore In my opinion the files have either been tampered with or these are FP's.
Never before have I had any hits with the Hirens download so it makes no sense them knowingly adding any malicious software to the download.As you say some downloads are not hosted on their site but I think the one I usually use here - Download Hiren is as official as you can get an also supplies MD5 hash numbers to check.
That page also contains the small list of updates that were added to this version.
As a precaution I have removed the download and cleaned my system but would love to get a definitive answer with this as I have not received anything back from MSE as yet.

Niren digs deep into the system and often scores false positives.
His Sniffpass tool has capabilities that should cause concern to malware detection software.

Some malware scanners are/were ill equipped to scan anything that was compressed.
Perhaps Uharc.exe compresses beyond the capability of MSE to analyse.

So far I see nothing to worry about,
but I am posting to ensure I get notified of further posts,
and I will await resolution before downloading just in case.
