Home Premium vs Professional performance

Hi, Does windows 7 home edition use less RAM and CPU and run smoother than windows 7 professional or ultimate on old computers?
I heard windows 7 home edition load less processes into RAM and so it's faster than windows 7 ultimate and professional ?Is it true?

Maybe by a very small amount.

That all depends on your system.. How much RAM does your system have?? What CPU do you have? Home basic/home starter does use less resources because it has fewer processes/features... but that does not mean that its going to run any faster or smoother.... Be sure that your system meets the minimum requirements for Windows 7 before installing it ... your experience will be a lot better if you do..

No, because each edition is running the same core features and process. There is no performance difference between the editions.

Give or take one or two, but none of them will effect process in a negative way. It is a misconception that process count effects performance. This is only true if all the processes were in fact all active at the same time. Which has never really been the case.

Not necessarily. There is a bit more functionality...but not all things are services. Like ability to join a domain. It's not as if this is an application or service which runs that allows you to do that. The inclusion of this feature won't put any noticeable load on the box.

Same thing with BitLocker....if you use it...then it would have an impact. But the simple fact that it's there within a menu allowing you to run it doesn't necessarily have any impact on performance.

I'm sure somebody could prove a difference with a benchmark or a critical look at task manager...but real world noticeable difference will be impossible to find between Home Premium, Pro, Enterprise and Ultimte.

Performance will be the same across all versions on the same platform and the same hardware, just like in Vista. Get the one that fits your needs and budget.
