Homegroup difficulty and missing Stream button in WMP

I have a new computer and installed Win 7 Ultimate.
I don't remember if I set up homegroup during the installation.
If I go to Control Panel\Homegroup I get an error saying that Homegroup is not yet ready, try in a while, and has a 'start the homegroup troubleshooter' link. If i do that, no faults are found.

I turn on another Win 7 computer and in explorer, my computer name is shown in the homegroup folder. Not only that, my videos in a the DVD folder is also shown that I have set up in WMP on the new machine.

The Stream button in Windows Media Player is missing.

I have a Sony tv that has an ethernet connection and could show the videos on my computer, but it requires WMP to be able to stream the videos to the tv.

I searched the internet far and wide. Checked the services and all the other suggestions but found nothing.
Has anyone any ideas as to how to fix my homegroup - I think that will probably restore the stream button in WMP.
Thanks in advance.

It is interesting that there have been 172 views of my post and no one has an idea about a solution to my problem. Not even a suggestion as to where to look.

I might have another input to the puzzle. When I right click on a video file there is an entry on the context menu 'Play to'. When the mouse hovers over this entry my TV set name is shown. When I click on this, a control panel window appears and says that streaming is off with a link to turn on streaming. However, when I click this link nothing happens.

Maybe this will trigger someone to what the problem might be.
Thanks.
