I have a homegroup with two hard-wired desktops and one laptop on a wireless connection. Also networked is a WDTV media player with a WD Passport attached. Until today all the three computers were able to see the Passport, but suddenly the laptop cannot see it. I have recently downloaded some software that was challenged by AVG and I rejected it but it seemed to install a whole bunch of network TAP's. I have deleted them through control panel but still I cannot see the Passport on the laptop, although the others still can!

Any ideas?

One other thing baffles me. The hard-wired computers say they are connected to Network 2 but the laptop says just the router name. That's been the case for as long as I remember so I don't think this is part of the problem.

Windows 7, HP Pavilion, (rebooted a dozen times), TP Link router (also rebooted several times, to no effect).

Update - I've been able to get the WDTV to be recognised by the laptop as a media player but it stall cannot see the WD passport external drive attached to the WDTV. The other two computers can also see the WDTV as media player which they couldn't before, but they CAN see the external drive. Infuriating. With nearly 200 views, I really hoped one of you would have an idea. Please keep thinking - what the heck is it? If I need to post more details of the configuration, let me know.

Uninstalled the drivers on the wireless adaptor, closed it down, restarted and the automatic reinstall fixed the problem.
