homegroup network doesn't accept password

I have two computers, both use Windows 7, connected second computer to homegroup network but first one wouldn't connect to second. have now reloaded Windows on first computer due to other issues. Both computers see each other on network but neither will accept password to connect.

Usually when you have password problems on Home group machines it's because the time and or date is not set correctly or not in sync with the other machine.

This fact is referenced on most every Home group walk though I've seen.

The fix for this problem seems to be Deleting the file idstore.sst under C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

Once everything at peer Networking Grouping is running you may also need to do this...

Start the Task Manager
Click on the service Tab
Find the "HomeGroupProvider"
and then stop the service.


You may need to go back into services and enable Peernetworking again after the fix. Don't forget to restart all machines making the adjustments.
