how can i copy read only file from DVD-ROM to windows 7

hi,,,

can any body tell me how can i copy Read only file From DVD-ROM to my laptop.???

When I try to copy them to my laptop, It says that the files on the disc are read only file.Help me to copy them to my Laptop....

I am using HCL ME Windows 7 home basic 32bit. laptop....

Files on dvd-rom are ALWAYS readonly. So you can read them and copy them to laptop without problems. But afterwards they are still read only. You want to clear the readonly bit?

I assume you have made a new folder speciale for dvd input. For example you made "my desktop"\DVDinput and copy it the stuff you want to this new (so empty) folder. did you do it this way? Is so... richt click on DVDinput->properties. Now clear the read-only checkbox. Apply the changes

Did you COPY the files succesfully? So COPY instead of MOVE. MOVE is sort of COPY and then delete form DVD. Delete from DVD is impossible.

So did you try COPY??

one thing i clear that u i try to copy what u said but it take 1-2 hr for copeing 1 gb data... but in on 350 mb it will stop to copy... that dvd total size is 7.69gb and all files are read only... so i cant copy that files... and want to copy it on my laptop... so plz can u tell me another method...or any software to copy from readonly dvd to laptop...???

1 hour to copy is much too long... it would take 15 minutes or so. Did some files copy succesfully to laptop? Try some small files only as a test.

You can copy readonly files without problems!! copy means read them and place the same in another location. So you need write access to folder on laptop..... files on DVD can be readonly.

installing a program from DVD works the same. setup.exe is copied to memory and executes. it reads some files from dvd and copies them to harddisk

So you CAN copy one or more files. They are readonly as well. Please check it.

Is it an original DVD someone bought?

What are you gonna do after copying? Watch it using powerdvd or another dvd video watching program?
If so.... try to watch it directly from dvd. And/or use your standonly dvd player and watch on tv. Now you know there are no bad spots on dvd. Post if you can watch it without problems. use fast forward to test

you can copy some files from dvd isn't it? It isn't a readonly problem! DVD has most likely protection on it to prevent copying.
