Thanks for your reply, I posted in that thread. I have Classic Shell and if it will give me the old XP view as Slideshow option back, I dont see that option??

What I really need is to make Windows 7's folder view to look just like the one in this example.

I don't see a huge difference between the old slideshow view and the new preview pane. Same result

how are you able to get, "the same result,"
this is all I can do. it is not the same.

XP filmstrip view

W7 preview pane
http://forum.daz3d.com/postimages/origimage_1_2328292.jpg

How are you able to get the same result and put the main preview image up top like the XP example above where the slide show thumbnails are under it? I cant get it to do it. Please tell me how.

If you using microsoft picture manger in Windows7 you can display your photos as a filmstrip...as for the classic start menu I used to use a third party program can do that .. I will try to dig the name out for you.Windows 7 Classic Start Menu

I have it and I tried it, are you talking about watching a slideshow or is this able to replicate the XP slideshow folder view like this screen shot? If it can do this, please tell me how to do it.

From what I see it does not look like it will simulate the picture flow of XP. Can't find the download location either?

Well it looks like XP on my system. Try downloading a 60 day trial copy of Office. The picture manager will continue to work after the 60 days.

This is getting tiresome. First and most importantly; I sincerely do thank all of you for trying to help. I truly mean this. Thank you for the effort—sincerely.

I’m not looking for a way to put a film border around a thumbnail, I’m not looking for a picture manager, and the preview pane is not, “the same thing.” 3D and 2D art is a hobby I take serious. As far a photo managers go, XnView is as close as I can get to what I want. But it is kind of useless to have a program that opens folders for me. I want to be able to open the folder and use it like I could in XP.

Here is the problem I am having with Windows 7. (The Filmstrip View) that was featured in XP is not available in Windows 7. What I liked and needed and used (The Filmstrip View) for was — I could double click on a folder that contained my art, open a folder, see it, organize it, select a image and the right click and open it with a program.

Bottom Line — I want to be able to open a folder containing my art and see it as I could in the XP Filmstrip View.

Well, Said!
Using an add on program simply does not replace the XP look, usage, features and integrated ease of use. Using office is difficult especially if you want to have another version on your system.
