how can i know if w7 did optimaze boot defrag and Prefetch data?

i mean is there a regkey or files that let me know if w7 did perform a boot defrag and did optimaze the prefect boot & data?

xp does every 3 boots after an x minutes (i guess 30) idle time

how does w7 perform these actions?
and how do I know when w7 did it the last time

Windows 7 does it every boot, and defrags once a week if you did not disable the buildin defrag.

You can defrag the boot files using the undocumented switch /b. e.g. defrag C: /b

If you really want to know whether Prefetch is working as it should, do this:

• Delete the contents of C:\Windows\Prefetch.
• Restart. Observe how long it takes to get to the desktop and how quickly programs start when launched.
• Use your system for a few minutes.
• Restart again. This time make the same observations. You'll find that it's already much faster the second time around.
