That's not a 0.0 >>>> it's a 5.5, enlarge the picture & you well see.
that's the other language in my computer!
I noticed that all the other things are above 6.4, But only this one
is so low to 5.5! is it because the extra usage i did to HD in the past year?

To get a score higher than 5.5, two things will push it up.
A platter RAID and for the better scores, an SSD.

Take the WEI score with a grain of salt, if your drive is preforming very well and it works suited to your needs, no need to worry that it isn't working. A score of 5.0 is a typical Win 7 system, anything above is enthusiasts scoring.

Q: Is RAID & SSD types of HardDisk?
Which is better OR faster, Because i deal with large amount of
GBytes, sometimes it may reached to 60GB~90GB! to move or
extract from my internal HD to my external ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DaYIM, if you want to increase speed of your storage subsystem, the cheap way is to use RAID, but not just ANY RAID setup. Looking at your data sizes, I suppose you'd be better off to use an external SAN setup, but that setup can cost you ~10K a set (I know one from IBM, DS 3300). By using SAN (and FC) you can achieve ~350MB/s to ~400MB/s transfer rate from your computer to the disk system. If you use iSCSI, you'd get ~80 to ~100MB/s (depending heavily on your NIC). In any case, an external SAN setup is the best way to have flexible, expandable, redundant, and very fast storage system (SSD is no where near it's scale and speed, but SSD is a lot cheaper).

Thank you so much guys for your support.

& excuse me for asking so much; but can anyone provide me a
picture of an external SAN setup! one more thing WHAT is 10K?

& if possible i want simple explanation/definition of these thing:-
RAID, FC, iSCSI, NIC & SSD. & which is hardware, which is software.
If i'am asking to much OR i got far from this thread purpose; PLEASE IGNORE.
PS: i searched for these things, but i didn't get the main idea.

greg, optimizing the disk content won't increase the WEI score... It's simply hardware limited, it can't transfer any faster than the current transfer rate, thus the low score.

Agreed. And that is not a bad score for a hard drive.

DaYiM, don't get overly concerned with WEI scores. They are just an indicator, nothing more. Your system is good.

1st: What is the meaning of this SPEED?

3rd: Do i need to change BOTH or just the Primary/Secondary?
REGARDS
1) That is not a speed, it is a rating that W7 gives your HDD based on its transfer and read/write speeds
2) Yes, but you will need a HDD that is BETTER than the one you have now
3) Yes, I think you would, but I am not sure.

If you really want to increase this score (such as for moving large amounts of Data like you said), then you will either need a Solid State Drive (SSD) or a very fast RAID setup (like zzz2496 mentioned).

An SSD would be the easiest and cheaper option, but they are still expensive. A high quality SSD can cost around $500 for a 320Gb drive. There are some less expensive, but still cost way more than your typical HDD. You could also try getting the Western Digital Velociraptor, a 10,000 RPM HDD.

A RAID setup would be even better, but costs WAY more. zzz2496 knows more about these than I do, but for an internal setup, you would need a $250 controller card, plus the hard drives themselves (preferable SATA III, at 6Gb/s)
The SAN setup he mentioned I know nothing about, so you will need to ask him.

In the end it really depends if you NEED to spend $500 or more just to increase the score. That is up to you, but if you are serious, make sure to get a LOT more information about it, and be sure to run your decision through us so we can make sure it will work like you hope.

Are you saying HD performance is never affected by, say, heavy fragmentation, multiple bad sectors, file system errors and gigs of needed cleanup?

I always look for things that can be done at no cost, and need to be part of regular maintenance anyway.

An SSD is as far out of my budget now as a SST.

The HDD's "pure" performance is not affected by heavy fragmentation, that is my opinion. What is affected is, the capability of the disk when you ask it to retrieve random data off the disk. While the peak transfer rate is static, the random transfer rate can fluctuate. WEI score rates the "pure" performance value, defrag and any other "rearrangement" won't do WEI any good (We are talking about WEI score, are we?).

Well said.

Greg, the transfer rate of the disk is ALWAYS a constant, limited by the slowest part of the system, whether that be the HDD itself, the cable, the motherboard, or the OS. Heavy fragmentation and broken sectors WILL NOT affect this.
Heavy fragmentation WILL affect read and write speeds. I don't know if the WEI takes this into account or not. Regardless, heavy fragmentation will slow your HDD down.

I am sure you know this, but you seemed confused.
