How can I move emails to new Laptop

I need some help please. ...I have a W7 Laptop that is about 8 years old . I am going to reset it to factory default and start again. I am saving everything I want on DVD and disks. I want to save all my email folders (old read emails etc). I use Windows Live Mail at present. Is it possible to save these in a folder (disk, ext Hard Drive DVD) ,then reload them into the email programme when I restart the Laptop. Hope that is all clear...Many thanks.

I've done that all the time with Mozilla Thunderbird [& FF] and eM Client 5 & 6; I know such can be done. However, I do not know anything about Windows Live data folders and files structure -- other folks in the know will have to weigh in.
