Isn't Linux's Terminal window about the same as the Windows Command Prompt window? Many of the DOS Commands work in Command Prompt window, usually typing the command followed by a space and /? will give directions such as dir /? to get the switches one can use with the command. A redirection can be made to create a text file in the Folder the Command Prompt is in such as dir /o/s>dir.txt will list all the files and subFolders and send the information to the dir.txt file in that Folder.
