How can you obtain a Microsoft Certification award?

I see a lot of people have a microsoft certification award or microsoft certified professional. How do you go about getting one of these? Im from the UK.

The Microsoft Certified Master (MCM), Microsoft Certified Solutions Master (MCSM), and Microsoft Certified Architect (MCA) certifications were retired on October 1, 2013.
Exams usually take between two and three hours to complete and consist of between 40 and 90 multiple-choice, drag-and-drop, and solution-building questions; and simulated content with respect to which students must perform certain common administrative tasks

Anyone can take the tests, passing them... that`s another story

You pay for the voucher (you have a limited time frame until it expires) and usually have 2 shots at passing a test.
