I want to do file check but its telling me to give each partition a drive letter

When I either right click partition or click partition at top "change letter" is not higlighted.

If I use Label it says it will wipe out anything on that partition which I obviously dont want

can anyone help please?

Hi there
If you have no OS then until you format the Drive with NTFS or FAT32 into Windows you can't assign it a letter.

After formatting you can LABEL the partition but when you install the OS it's best to let the OS assign "C" to the install partition.

Once you've booted up you can re-assign letters to the other partitions.

Just create a (preferably) NTFS partition and install your OS.

Cheers
jimbo

Susan I'm assuming from your other thread that you have now deleted all partitions on your Acer HD, created new one and lettered it C. Now you can run the file scan.

After that, boot the GWScan uploaded to run full scan. It may autostart without having to set DVd/CD drive to boot first, otherwise do that in BIOS setup. Make sure you Acer HD is set to boot next.

Once you've verified the scan is being run on Acer HD C, then it is safe to also Write Zeros to HD to get it cleanest possible for Win7 install. But if you choose to do this, you'll need to use Drive Tools to create New partition to format, when you boot Win7 DVD to do a Custom Install using the tutorial I posted earlier.

thanks for replies problem sorted now thanks

Susan
