Solved How do i determain the size of my memory

Speccy displays what you have, not what you need dis regard Speccy results.

As you`ve been told, you use the motherboard manual to get the specs for the memory you can use and how much the motherboard can support. You have been told.

Get PC3-10666

You can not depend on crucial`s memory configurator either, your motherboard may accept pc3-12800 but it will not run at that speed so why waste the money. Yes there will be a difference in price.

Yes, there is a difference in price, but a small one.

Strange that if my PC wont run at the higher speed why did HP install them as OEM memory. I figured maybe it would help somewhat since my motherboard is limited and any memory upgrade will not make a huge difference anyway.

I like the sticks you suggested, and was looking at them in fact. I think i should just go with them and be done with it.

Is there a big difference between the ones you recommended and these:

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK

The price is virtually the same, but would one offer any performance improvements over the other?

None that you'd ever notice. There is a minor difference in timings.

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10600CL8D-4GBHK - Newegg.com

The above 2 differ by $2 in price. One has heat spreaders and the other doesn't. Both are designated as DDR3-1333. The one with heat spreaders is specifically designated as 10666. Both are 1.5 volt, unbuffered, non-ECC.

Always get memory with heat spreaders if you can, they just look way cooler :D

For $40 get the Ripjaws X

Excellent, you should be very happy with them :D

I`m sure you know but.......

If the power supply has a switch, turn it off.

Pull the power cord from the pc or the wall socket.

Push the power button to drain the power out of the pc.

After opening the case touch bare metal in the case in a few places before you start working on it.

Push the latches on each end of the ram slots to pop out the old sticks.

Then just..... AddRAM :)

Be careful, line up the notches, don`t push too hard, just til you hear it click. Then double check the latches on each end and bam, you`re done.

Alright, I installed the new RAM.

Please see screenshots:

My PC is a bit faster now. It clocks at the same speed as before and i have a mild increase in the Windows Experience Index score.

Much thanks for all the help and patience with me during this process!!
