How do I edit audio track Tag info in Windows 7?

I have ripped many cds to my laptop using Windows Media Player 12 and WAV audio format. This seemed to go smoothly but afterwards i noticed that a lot of my CDs have all BUT the first track tagged. I know how to change the info in WMP itself but this doesn't actually change the tag in windows explorer. After ripping, the correct folder on my hard drive will be made with all the tracks on the CD in the right place and every FILE named correctly. However, the first track will be labled "unkown" for each column in my music folder (album name, artist, composer, etc) while every track after that will have each column labled and labled correctly. I try to edit the tag manually from windows explorer but it wont let me edit anything but the actual file name.
this is frustrating for syncing my music to my android phone as i have a lot of albums with the first track missing and then a huge unknown list with about 400 songs that are only labled "unknown". i really dont want to have to re-rip all these albums again through a different program or not. is their another solution? can i re-tag tracks manually in explorer so they will stay tagged correctly for good? anybody know why WMP does this?

One of the oldest and good digital audio format for music is MP3 format which compresses the Wav audio file to a small size. This is done by deleting all the inaudible frequencies from the audio file which the human ear can not hear.

MP3 files also support the file tags like title, artist, album, composer etc.

MP3 format is widely supported by most of the portable music players including smart mobile phones.

There are many freeware programs availble on internet to convert the Wav files to MP3 files and also edit the MP3 tags.

use mp3tag it is the handiest software i have used for tagging.

i also use winamp and if you load the album into winamp and select the first track (the untagged track) and then, send to /auto tag it will tag the track for you,
then use wmp3tag and copy the tag over to the title and it will show on the file in explorer

What I've done is just delete the album and re-rip them from my CDs and then set the files to read-only, so hopefully they won't be updated. The re-ripped files all display track information correctly, altho' i understand that .WAV doesn't handle track info very well from doing some brief research on the Internet but... i want to use WMC full screen to browse my CDs by remote control, so its .WAV for me. Still if anyone could explain why this happened...
