How do i ensure optimal performance?

Hi

I have recently bought this computer. I have newst drivers and direct X - and Win 7 is upgraded.

How do i make sure that i press every drop out of this spec? is there a test program, a tool or something to compare a score or something like that. I'm afraid I have used a lot of money on this pc, and maybe only get 80% performance

This is the most commonly used benchmarking program - Futuremark - Benchmarks - 3DMark Vantage - Introduction

As for getting 'every drop', highly unlikley.

You would have to be running Video editing, high end games with all eye candy wacked to the max and porbably continuos Folding.

Sorry but there really is not a lot of programs/apps/software that can continuosly push you PC.

Maybe someone could re-phrase me but... thats about the truth of it.

Make sure your firmware and your drivers are up to date.
Don't install things you don't need.

I get a 3 dmark score around 3600- 3800 in the not regged version of the program.

What should I expect? I see many test of the card saying about 12-13.000 ?

Some of the newer nvidia drivers were crap so you may want to test a couple to get the best performance. Which ones are you running right now?

Its a good system. The only way to ramp up the Primary hard disk is through the use of an SSD.

Pretty good score although im sure you could get it a lot higher. If you go to this page and put in your specs you can see how your system compares to others.

Just click on the details of any score that comes up and you can see a graph of what the most common scores are for your setup.

Heres mine for the pc in my system specs:

Hi,

Always use the latest driver from the manufacturer.

For desktop cards (AMD and Nvidia) there is no such thing, the drivers all come from AMD and Nvidia regardless of who made the card. The most that you get with the driver from the card manufacturer is their name or logo showing up during the install. Laptop drivers are a slightly different story. The drivers themselves still only come from AMD or Nvidia, but it is what the laptop manufacturers add (modded INF only, never the actual driver files) in how the driver interacts with the display, whatever power schemes they use, etc.

As for which driver is best, the only way to find that out is through trial and error. Start with the latest (official or beta) and see how it works for you in games. If it doesn't work as you want (performance, bugs, whatever), try the previous one and keep going till you find the one that works best for you (and no 3D Mark scores are not the way to test).

Just make sure to create a restore point before installing the driver you are going to test (doesn't always get created automatically), much easier to do a system restore to before the driver install that messing around with uninstalling and using a driver cleaner program (which can mess up Windows to the point of needing to re-installing just to get a driver to install).
