Hi,

I want to be able to adjust my computers EQ at a sound card level rather than in each programme I use. I don't know if I can already do this or if I need to get a better sound card.

I have win 7 Dell, and in device manager under sound ,video and games controllers there are 5 entries. 1 for High Definition Audio Device (microsoft) and 4 that say NVIDIA high definition audio. Are these actual sound cards or is the sound being provided by the motherboard / graphics card?

My graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GT 220.

thanks for any help!

The first is the onboard audio and running on the default Windows driver, which provides just enough functionality to get sound out of it. For the proper driver for it go here,

Dell - Drivers and Downloads

use either the service tag number or look up the exact model of your Dell and get th driver there.

The second is the audio built into the video card (all four of them), so the card can send audio over HDMI when using the HDMI port and connected to an appropriate display.
