I thought this would be easy, but no. I have spent an hour now on this, to almost no avail. Specifically, what I am trying to achieve is, on putting a DVD into my drive,to get a list of autoplay options including 'Play with VLC', which when I select, opens the DVD's top menu, from where I can choose to play the video, select audio options etc.
If I insert the DVD into my other Win7 PC, that is exactly what happens - I get a window showing an option to play with VLC, and when I click on it, it goes to the DVD's top menu and I can choose to start play. But I just can't get that to happen on my main PC...
I have tried an endless string of suggestions I found Googling - editing the autoplay options, setting options using Default Programs Editor, deleting the MountPoints2 'folder' in the registry etc. etc. - but still, when I insert a DVD, though I have now got the option 'Play with VLC', when I select that, VLC opens a blank window: if I click the VLC Play arrow, it asks me to browse for the media. If I select the ifo file, nothing plays in any case. If I double-click on the DVD icon in My Computer, it says 'Application not found'.
I'd be really grateful for a step-by-step on how to do this, please, 'cos frankly, having turned 60 now, I am running out of patience!
Was planning to play my new DVD of Alban Berg's Lulu today, but so far, it looks like it 'aint gonna happen!
Thanks folks!
