how do i merge 2 unallocated sizes

So i got here 2 unallocated sizes
Wanna merge them but not using any software, only the disk management.
Is it possible?
P.S : The first unallocated size i got it from shrinking the C drive, and the second from shrinking the D drive
and i dont know why didnt they merge automatically.

Windows Disk Management has its limitations.

Assuming you got them merged, would you then just leave it as unallocated? Or would you want to add it to some partition?

I was just trying a small sample, but really I wanted to make a new partition with 60 GB to install windows 8.

You need a tool with more capabilities than Windows Disk Management if you want to do anything fancy.

Best one is Partition Wizard.

Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online

But you could add that space back to C and then shrink D by 60 GB. Then make a partition out of that free space and install 8 there. You've got plenty of free space on D. You can do all of that with Windows Disk Management.

I think most people would tell you to try to put 8 on another drive entirely if possible. Maybe not possible in your case.

Thats what im trying to do.
Why isnt it possible?

A different partition, but the same drive.

It is possible. It's just more prone to problems than using a separate drive. If you don't have another drive, you don't have any choice.

Not using the appropriate tool for the job is a bit like saying I want to drive a car but I can only drive it when there's NO FUEL in it or trying to remove a large Railway Iron Girder with only a watch makers Screwdriver. !!

Well, The only reason why i dont want to use any tool is because I read many reviews about those tools and found them aren't safe 100%. Also many people got their machines damged.
So I dont want to risk.
