Hi and welcome

Adgower

When ever you need something the best thing to try first is to google it. its pretty easy and you wont have to wait for one of us to answer your question

MPEG-2 file info can be found here MPEG transport stream - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hope this helps and let us know if it doesnt

Yah, the great sage Google knows most anything. Use it.

Since I'm just sitting here between bites on a slice of pumpkin pie I'll suggest
getting Video Lan Client (VLC) and use that. You can Google that up too. VLC plays most anything and is
free.

No it doesnt, because that is a subjective term... YOU will have to decide which is best, not someone else....

If you are going to install codecs like FFD Show, I would recommend installing W7 Codecs by Shark007. It contains updated versions of FFD Show and a bunch of other useful codecs but does not install a ton of unnecessary and/or outdated stuff along with them. It also contains a settings application (see screenshot below) that makes it easy to adjust which particular codecs and splitters get used for various video file types.
