How do I put more memory to another drive

Hello, I am currently having an issue with my C: drive being too full. I have already shrunk my D: drive by 20gb, but now it will not let me add the 20gb to the other drive, thoughts?

that is what my screen currently looks like.

Hi Billybobjoe, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Your D: drive and the free space are on a logical drive. You can not add from logical to primary.

Your best shot would be to backup everything from D: to J:, you seem to have a lot of space there, then delete D: and finally delete the logical drive. Add what you need to C:, use the rest to create new D:.

okay, I'm willing to do that, but I do have one question, I have a few programs running off of that drive (nothing required) when i recreate the D: drive, do I have to re-install the programs?

Hmm, several comments:

1. Why is Disk 1 Volume J dynamic. That can give you problems.

2. The freespce at the end of Disk0 has to be converted to 'unallocated' space before you can do anything with it. Right click on it and delete the partition.

3. Then you can extend partition D with that unallocated space

4. In order to extend the C partition (and take space from D), you have to use the bootable CD of Partition Wizard (last box on the webpage => 'Home'). Burn this .iso to a CD and boot your system with that CD.

I highly recommend to make an image of C before you start manipulating it. If you have further questions, post back.

I would convert it to logical or primary, depending what you want to do with it. Primary is only needed for boot partitions (those who contain a bootmgr). All others can be logical. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/26829-convert-dynamic-disk-basic-disk.html

I would convert J to Primary, and at least, split it in half.
