Hello members,

Hope you all are doing great. This is my first post & I am feeling very tensed right now. I was using disk management tool on windows 10 to delete the volume E. However by mistake I deleted the volume D & unallocated space increased .

After that I created new volume called Y out of the unallocated space. At this point I realized that I lost my D drive which has all my valuable data worth 30 GB.

Is there any way to recover the files and partition ? I tried easeus and it recovered the partition but with empty contents.

Please help me as my all work is stored on D drive and I am in wierd situation & totally scared about how do I explain this situation to my boss.

Hope someone will help me out...

Please help !

This is a critical situation. Try to generate image of your drive and then experiment recovery options on it . Image of the drive won’t harm your data.

Hi KK98,

Please post a screenshot of Windows Disk Management adhering to the guidelines here. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/274797-disk-management-post-screen-capture-image.html

Upload to Seven Forums : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html

Also install and run Minitool Partition Wizard Free Edition 9.1 https://www.partitionwizard.com/download.html

Post the screenshot of how it looks in Partition Wizard.( The first screen as soon as you launch the program)

Was it an internal drive or external drive? If external please remove all other external drives/pendrives and have only the drive on which you have made the changes.

Try using software such as DiskDrill

This might require the services of a software guru within a local business-oriented no-nonsense computer fix-it place. Tell that person exactly the steps you did before you brought the computer to him or her [the fix-it guru]. You have been making full images of your data partition on trusted external media, yes? If not, after the local guru gets everything back -- begin a weekly or bi-weekly routine immediately, your data is too important not to have external backups.

Hi Kk1988,

The screenshots you provided in your post #5 is not what I asked for in my post #3. You know why. Without seeing that post for more than a day, you had gone ahead with Easeus Data Recovery and further modified the partition structure which I cannot analyse now.

Second, knowing that you are new to the forum I gave you the link on how to upload the screenshots to Seven Forum Upload to Seven Forums : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...en-forums.html . You uploaded them to a third party server. Shows you care less.

Now I am not going to analyse this modified partition structure and give you the solution. You have made it difficult and unwilling to indulge in it further on my part.

Now download, install and run Getdataback simple https://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm
and scan your drive.

Click on each volume and check whether it shows all your files.

If it shows the files in your current volume D, you can click on those and preview. If everything is fine, buy a license for $69 to be able to copy those.( The free demo version will only show the files but you cannot copy unless you buy a license and register)

If GetDataback fails to show any files you want, then as RolandJS suggested take recourse to a data recovery agency.

Hi Jumanji ,

First of all thank you for helping me.I used easeus manager to create new volume and then I could not see the files back . That is the reason why I came here for help. I used easeus manager even before I posted my question here for the first time.

Regarding the file upload server, I apologize for that since I did not read it properly.

In nutshell nothing has changed since I posted my question & I can confirm that I have not run any kind of software on my own.

Hope you understand this & reconsider helping me.

Regards.

I shall be out of station for the next two days - an unscheduled emergency visit to Chennai by the overnight train tonight.

I can continue only after my return - most probably Sunday.

The event has passed. Only cremation remains. :)

You may post the following information "I was using disk management tool on windows 10 to delete the volume E" Where is E? I don't see it.

You deleted D. What was its extent in GB? Is it the current D 44.36GB + unallocated 80.94 GB = 125GB?

You created a new volume D. Did you format it too? ( Looks like you formatted and it was not just the creation of new volume)

Also run Getdataback simple and see whether you can see any files in the various partitions in it. ( It only scans and does not write anything to the drive. So absolutely safe.)

Off now.

Thank you so much Jumanji for getting back on this. I hope everything was all right on your trip.

I have changed the letter of drive E to U.
No the size of the D drive was 42 GB.
Yes I formatted it.
I did run Getdataback but unfortunately I do not see any of my previous files.

I hope I answered all your questions. I feel that I lost my data & there is no way to get it back since I formatted it and created new one out of the unallocated space ? Is that true ?

If you had formatted D, the original MFT ( Master File Table) is gone. You may try PhotoRec to rebuild whatever data is there. You won't be able to get the original folder structure and File Names. What you will get is only a bunch of files without the original file names. You have to rename those and reorganise into folders.

Go to the topic Recovery in this thread http://www.sevenforums.com/software/193467-guide-using-photorec-recovery-software.html

Step by Step: PhotoRec Step By Step - CGSecurity

File Formats Recoverable By PhotoRec: File Formats Recovered By PhotoRec - CGSecurity

While running PhotoRec you may select whichever file formats you want to recover from the list shown on the appropriate screen in PhotoRec..
