How do I use DreamScene without Aero?

I don't really like the way Aero slows down my computer so much, but I'd like to be able to use DreamScenes (Yes, I know DreamScenes slow it down too, but at least it only does it when I see the desktop). I downloaded a fix that enables DreamScene on Windows 7, but it still needs Aero to function. Is there a way to disable the Aero requirement?

Have you tried running Aero without Transparency enabled, as this slows down areo a lot.

Dreamscene requires Aero to work. You might try VLC with Desktop Wallpaper Mode

Ironically, it will disable Aero if it is on

Yeah, I've heard of that and tried it, but it's more resource-intensive than even Aero. is there something else?

Not that I am aware of. You are trying to do a very resource intensive thing
