How do you tell if you have multiple of the same picture?

I have tired to search for this topic and maybe I have just missed it. Anyway, I am going to do a back up soon and want to save a little bit of space. So I was wondering if there is a way (either in Windows 7 or some other 3rd party software) to tell if you have multiple of the same pictures saved anywhere (not just the "My Pictures" folder) on your computer. You see, I have transferred some stuff from my mothers computer to mine when I had some of the same stuff as she had. Thanks for your help in advance.

I use a free program called DupDetector. It is old and hasn't been updated in years but does the trick for me.
I have tens of thousands of pictures and use it all the time.

This program is great, and there is a portable version.

Pick a folder, or drag one to the app, and it searches and gives a % of similarity. I keep the portable app on my toolkit USB as well. The portable is only 0.6 MB. A Guy

I use VisiPics and I think it works great. (Hasn't had an update since 2008, but still does a fine job)
