I was wondering how far i could overclock my 8150 with the stock fan

I have really good airflow in my case and I also have 2 120mm fans

There really shouldn't be much need to clock that chip.
It already has a built in turbo of up to ...I think 4.2 ghz without looking.
Basically in most respects you have the amd version of my chip.
This thing blazes...
what are you trying to do crack the grand unified theory on your home pc?

I can manage about 4.6 I can push it to 5 but it gets scary hot.
overclocking is pretty machine specific, the best thing to do, if you insist on doing it, is increase by small intervals and use an app to monitor the temperatures and make sure you're in safe ranges under load.

You can just google the chip and overclocking and you'll soon discover that there are about 30 ways to get there and they all work with varying success for different people and setups.
The best way to overclock is to honestly do it yourself.

Learn the frequencies know what the numbers all mean, it's the only way you'll ever get the most out of it.

Well this depends on what Board ,Ram you have

On air can reach 4.5 easy but this take s tweeking both FSB and Multiplyer along with some Cpu v-core

Most people Oc via multiplyer which isn't the right way to OC this kind of chip

It's FSB loves to be Oc'ed which can get you higher and faster memory readings

When you are overclocking take in to mind you have to disable turbo and manual set everything

The best thing you can do is go on youtube and check out tutorials on how to acomplish it most of it is trial and error

Im running a 8120 overclocked to 4.4Ghz I have even ran it up to 4.5 and 4.6 Ghz

also i am using aftermarket cooling which is a must when you are hitting over 4Ghz

I would just do tons of Reading and invest a little cash into better cooling option as it does get fairly hot when it is pushed beyond it's turbo limits

I really fail at overclocking...
I increased the multiplier by 1 and I ran prime95..
and i crashed :P

I think i have some hardware issues as when I installed my CPU it was displayed as 2.8Ghz, i had to manually clock it to stock speeds at 3.6ghz

I think I'll just stick with stock speeds and turbo-core
