how good is my new pc?

I just got me a brand new pc and here are the specs http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/1834/specs1.jpg listed in that image what are your thoughts on my new pc i got it for 500dollars on black friday im just wondering was it a good buy from a hardware standpoint i love the pc as of today and im happy i finally found something that i like but i dont know mutch about the hardware so was the cpu and everything worth the 500 i spend. and one more this are intel processors designed more for games or for multitasking ?

Better than a dual core, not as good as an i7. Good for light to medium gaming.

Sounds to me like a good deal. It's hard to get an entire computer for anything less than $350. So, since you are only at $500...there was only an extra $150. You certainly didn't get taken for a ride.

This is certainly possible. A core i7 MacBook Pro starts at $2,199 and the core i5 starts at $1,799.

in a way i did my first pc broke on me back in august the guys would not fix it they kept sending it back to me broken so eventually they replaced it and luckily it was around black friday so i got this one for 500 its a laptop

Regarding a Macbook or any Mac: They are a rip-off. I would get a normal PC on which you also run e.g. Snow Leopard. That's a cheaper deal - I think it costs $29.

I never ran Snow Leopard myself. But I have seen other people do it. As for prices, compare the hardware specs of any Mac with the same specs of a Windows PC and you will find that the exact same Mac hardware costs nearly twice as much.

If you don't know much about them, why do you think you would want to buy a MAC? Seems to be a foolish purchase without doing some research and finding out whether a MAC would meet the requirements that you have of a personal computing machine.

And these others guys are discussing a "hackintosh", which is a hack to allow you to run the OSX software on a PC. At best, it's functional...but it's particular about the exact hardware, versions, firmwares, etc. It's not like any 'ole pc will just run it. The other option is to spend time trying to setup a virtual machine running OSX...and if you do manage to accomplish it, it will be so horrendously slow you will be pissed that you spent the time to get it working in the first place.

pparks, Just curious - what makes you think it would be slow. I run Ubuntu in Virtual Box and with most applications it is actually faster than my native Win7 - and I gave vBox only 1GB of RAM. Only Firefox is slow. But I solved that with Chrome and that is lightning fast.

+1 a rip off doesn't really cover it. With Macs you don't get what you pay for.

It is running native and it was $29+tax since I bought it locally at Best Buy.
OSX runs better on my Mini than Windows 7 Ultimate did. I was quite surprised.

You have quite a setup with your main system too - congratulations. Unfortunately I have no space for a second or third monitor. The wife needs all the space for crafting - LOL.

thanks. I wish I had 3 matching monitors though. I did have 2 matching 19" LG's but one of them died and LG sent me the newer 19" model (the right monitor) so I then bought a 20" of the same style when it was on sale.
The left screen (Samsung) is my monitor I use when I fix PC's and it would sit in the corner, so I decided to make space on the desk and run triples.
