How long will XP last before it fades away ?

Well as everyone knows XP is an OLD OS, it's still decent but now that 7 is out it's going to fully replace XP eventually.

How long would you give XP ?

2 or 3 more years perhaps ?

There are still a lot of people there that love XP and do not want to move on to anything new. Of course, some of them are conspiracy theorists that think Windows 7 was created to allow Microsoft and the government spy on them.:shock:
It will be interesting to see how long MS continues to support XP, and after that, how long the holdouts will continue to use it.

microsoft has agreed to support windows xp until 2014, which i believe is more than a reasonable time for people and companies to upgrade hardware and software that only operate in xp for the time being. it's actually very generous of them to support the OS for as long as they have already.

Just wondering, also I heard that there is no SP3 for XP 64bit, is that true as well ? Why is that anyway ?

I learned this today and I'm just curious, apparently XP 64bit is still on SP2. Does that mean it's less secure than 32 bit XP SP3 ?

How about because XP 64 bit isn't really XP. What it basically is is Server 2003 with a XP skin, hence the reason no SP3. If and when Server 2003 gets another SP, so will XP 64 bit; which by the way won't be happening unless it comes out before July 13 this year,

I bought Windows 7, 'cause frankly, I was a bit tired of XP. I liked the Windows 7 GUI, and I heard nothing but raves about it.

Since people still use 2000, I'll give it till 2015 before a more than significant (70%) percentile of users are on 7.

xp will work for as long as there is hardware that can be run by it if you don't connect it to the internet

i agree windows 7 is the first os from microsoft i didn't immediately load up a new shell so that i could have the features i really wanted. sure im missing a few things but for the first time i feel like the features i would lose are worth more than the ones i would add.
