Hi all

Just curious to know how many services people seem to have running once they have booted up. I have just done a fresh install and i find myself having 41 processes running after startup. I have gone through the menu and set a few to manual as things like the team viewer service etc i dont use very often.

How about you guys?

I have a question within the Service area....
I can't count all of them but I see many running and many stopped.
Is the box checked when you go to Services for Hiding all MS products?

A couple years ago, my OS was either XP or Vista HP, I had a home tech come in and he disabled all of them and rebooted.
Is that advisable to do with Win 7 HP?

I don't know what the tech did at the time. But it is not advisable to disable services - even if they are not running at this time. Once they are needed and disabled, your system will come to a screeching halt. And besides, there is nothing to be gained by disabling them.

44.

Where you can effect this is by disabling msconfig>Startup entries. No MS service needed for Startup is included in Win7 Startup list. I turn off everything except AV and gadgets. All of the others are freeloaders on startup time, RAM, CPU and can spy on you.

If you want to know what an item is, expand the borders of the Command heading and it shoudl become apparent, or else google it.

I would NOT turn off Services in Win7 which has everything not needed at Startup set to Manual. As beta testers learned the hard way, turning off networking or security services not thought to be needed have unintended consequences.

Also, as beta testers who were masters at optimizing and tweaking in XP and early Vista also found out, tweaking programs like Boost Speed are not useful at all in Win7 which is already as lean and optimized as can be. This is not XP and applying XP methods will run you into a ditch sooner rather than later.
