How much time to you spend looking at your desktop?

What do you use your PC for?

I need to monitor the posts being made on 3 forums, watch the servers, surf the net all while watching the news channel - that would be a little hard on two screens.

To say any amount of screens if overkill based on your person situation is just rubbish.

You need one more.
Seven would be much better. Then you could have a nice wally to look at.

A large image of your Avatar for instance.:D;)

I have two monitors and I wish I had room for a third. I often use several applications simultaenously which interact with each other, and some of my programs have so many palettes that I wouldn't have any workspace left if I kept them all on my main monitor.

I have a nice little image on my desktop. I see it each time I minimize a program. It's a bit like the pictures on my walls. I don't spend time staring at them but I would miss them if they weren't there.
But when I have decided on a picture, on my walls as well as on my desktop, I stick to it for quite a long time :)

I'm curious as to why some people go to great extremes to customize their desktops? I spend very little time, if any, looking at the desktop. I usually have a number of apps open and never go to the desktop. Because I use the desktop so little, I also never use Aero Peek and don't really bother with desktop gadgets.

Do others spend a lot of time on the desktop when they use their computer?
I don't see the desktop very often at all. Most of the time, my icons are hidden, and I only have a couple of gadgets. I do collect a lot of wallpapers, but they are mostly for my screensaver slideshow.
