I have no problem in booting as i have given the correct priority in the boot sector in the advanced boot priority menu.
Today, when i boot, the computer stops after self test and there was a cursor just in the screen with bsod like screen.

i tried a few times and then went in to bios.
there the boot priority changed to another drive, which has no boot records. i connected it as a storage drive only.
i changed the priority correctly again to bott it normally .
Which have changed the bios priority in the Advanced boot priority menu.
i have not changed nor anybody in my family.
Which could have caused this. is there any diagnostic tool to find that.
Will there be any logs when this has happened.

It will change to another drive if it doesn't find the drive that was on the priority list.

My suggestion is to boot from the Win 7 installation drive and do a Boot repair.

If it doesn't find the installed Windows you will have to do a check disk.

Since UEFI can be written to the HDD, I wonder if that could be an issue?

How old is the CMOS battery?

The cmos battery is new and i find no problem in date.
Hi, megahertz, i did the choice to the actual window os drive.
But what i said is that there was a auto change of priority in boot drive from the original to the other storage disk, which do not have boot files. Now I think that i made it is clear . how this change took place is the essence of my query. do you mean mbrfix

I just thought to check the bios and found out the issue and changed the boot priority.
if suppose, if one is just a computer user , he has to call the technician to fix that

JFYI......
There are several things, besides a low CMOS battery, that can cause a BIOS to get scrambled.
A power supply with poor regulation can do it, and of course a low battery.
Without a O'Scope, you'll probably NOT be able to check the Power Supply.

A fix, that I've used before, is to remove all power from the PC, then remove the CMOS battery, and leave it out for about a half hour. Check the battery with a Digital Volt Meter, and if the voltage is below 3.0vdc, replace it. A GOOD battery, will always check out at over 3.0vdc.

Once the battery is replaced, boot up to the BIOS and set time and date, etc.
Also, make sure that your C: drive is connected to the lowest numbered (zero) port on the motherboard.
That's the port that the BIOS and Windows likes to boot from.

Good Luck,
TM

F: is set as active and is a data drive.

You must set F: as non active.

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
diskpart
select volume f
inactive
exit

Open disk manager and check if f: isn't set as active

The F drive is set as active. BIOS will see it as a boot able drive and it can try to boot from it.
If it is only a data drive, set as inactive.

Hi, thanks for the information.
But when i experienced the problem, the boot device was shown as E drive, in the figure, which I set as storage drive.
I did not have the prendrive on the datae of occurance.
C and D drives are primary and partitioned drive and E is data storage drive.
Now I think I made it clear to why I raised this query.

Hi, i had a boot problem because of auto change of boot order.
I noticed that due to change in the boot order, the local disk drive which has no OS in it, causes no boot ,

In this time i noticed that the processor even though healthy on all counts , stops spinning leading to total powering up.
I do not know, if it has anything to do with this.First , i tried changing of cmos, then i removed the Ram cleaned it and placed it with no success.
Then, i checked the smps, which is fine. Then as a last resort, I just removed the local disk storage hdd connection.
Now when i boot, it booted without any problem saving technican visit.
why this change is happening when the local disk drive has no boot files, but causing issue.
i noticed in disk management, that the disk 0 is shown as E drive, which is the local disk storage drive.
The disk 1 is shown as bootable drive, which is my c drive.
any idea ,

This you might also notice in the previous page picture I shared

Is disk 0 and disk 1 is auto allotted or based on the place of sata cable position in the mother board.
can i correct this so, my disk 0 is always disk 0 and storage disk as disk 1.
please also tell me, that bios will first search disk 0 and then disk 1 irrespective of the boot priority order

Hi, connecting the storage again causes comuter to stop booting.
What I am missing.
Is there any procedural lapse on my part to just add a local drive, a new hdd as a storage device.
I selected one anther point of connection of sata cable and connected the same to the new hdd.
I just connected the power cable to the same hard disk.
this disk has no boot sector or OS
Then why disconnecting the drive gives me the correct boot and connecting gives me problematic non boot.
Could any one suggest how to add the new hdd disk as a storage disk only.
My bios priority auto changes to non bootable disk resulting in mere a - blinking ,black screen of death , as the priority first is changed to this non bootable hard drive
