Hello,

Yesterday morning when I turned on my laptop, I got the "BOOTMGR missing error". My laptop was working with no problems till the night before, so I don't know what happened. Anyway, I tried everything recommend on this forum and elsewhere to fix the problem. But nothing seems to work.

Since I don't have any important stuff on the laptop, I don't mind reinstalling Windows 7 if that would solve the issue. But I don't have a windows 7 installation CD. I have a Samsung R540 which came pre-installed with Windows 7. I went to the Microsoft recovery centre and tried to validate my windows product key but it is not validating.. Is this because my Windows is pre-installed?

Also from the command prompt I can see that I have a recovery partition. When I start the laptop, it says "press F2 for setup and F4 for recovery." But while F2 takes me to the BIOS screen, F4 doesn't do anything. While searching online, someone suggested that the recovery partition must be made active. So I went to command prompt and made it active and tried again. But it has made no difference.

So now I don't what else to do.. I don't really care about any data. I just want the laptop to work.. Is there no hope for me?? I would really appreciate any help :(
Thanks in advance

Hello Roy,
Thank you so much for trying to help me!

While browsing, I happened to see this post.. So I already tried "bootrec commands" as shown in the tutorial but it has made no difference.. I didn't have a system repair disc. So I made one using my friend's Windows 7. I don't know if it is because of this that the commands didn't work.

anyway, to be honest i don't really have any important data..so I'm cool with reinstalling Windows 7. But is there any way to access the recovery partition?
