EDIT: Even with this problem aside, Picasa kind of bugs me, because it seems to be continously scanning my computer, even after it has already done so once, and it keep the CPU running at ~ half throttle all the time. Is there another photo editor available with better manners?

I don't know of another free one that will edit the fonts as you want. If you are prepared to pay then Adobe Elements is a good one.Try the earlier versions that are still sometimes available. Sorry that you don't like Picasa as I have found it highly successful in starting people off with photo editing in the past. With a little perceverence I am sure you find it very easy to use. I don't know about it's manners though , not a subject I am familiar with

I suspect that the reason that you aren't aware of any of it's hoggish manners is because you probably have faster hardware than I do. My old Socket 939 groans a bit running it. I may experiment further with it, because this is something that I'm not inclined to pay for a special program to do, but at the moment, I'm doing some encoding and that takes almost all of the processor's time to do.

I understand. Dimensions of original are 12.96 x 18.31 cm (490 x 692 px). What are the dimensions of the thumbnail you require?

I don't know what the ideal size is, because the program that they will be used in resizes them to it's own need. However, the one for Sea Hunt that I used yesterday is 585x828x24BPP. I don't have any idea of what that BPP factor stands for though.

Thanks, but I think that you misunderstood. I got Sea Hunt numbered and working yesterday. What I need now is a means to add custom outlined numbers on others.

I have been trying to get the import to work...without any success. I did get the red and white crossed circle to disappear, by using the include option in the right click context menu, but Picasa still couldn't find them. I then did what you suggested and used the import function, but that seemed to simply export them to some folder somewhere that I haven't found yet.

I'm sure that if someone other than myself, that knew what they were doing, wouldn't have any trouble with this, but then I can only be myself.

Happy to go through the Picasa interface step by step if you wish. If you would post a screenshot of the first view that appears when you first open Picasa we could take it from there!

I'm not sure what a screenshot is for, unless you don't have Picasa install, but here it is anyway:

I certainly have Picasa installed otherwise I would only be guessing the help I am trying to give and that would be wasting my time and yours.I needed to see your Picasa window so that I would be able to help you from that point. I see now that you can select one of your images. If you do that and follow the instructions I put in post #18 then you will easily achieve something like this;

Which I have just done. A point to remember, If you find you can't import PNG files to Picasa Click on Tools then Options then click the File Type tag and click the PNG box. Then click OK.
When you are happy with the result you can either save the file as is or click the Export icon at the bottom of the screen where you can resize the image if you wish.
If you want to stop the program from scanning your system then this can be done by clicking Tools then File Manager. There you can delete folders from the Picasa library, scan a folder just once or continuously scan. The choice is yours.

You misunderstand. I already understand how to deal with an image that it found on it's own...like those in the screenshot, but not for those that I had to manually direct Picasa to. As I said, they originally had a red and white crossed circle on them, but I got rid of that. Even after that, when I attempted to select one of the images, it didn't open the editting window, so that it could be numbered. It is as even though that Picasa displays them, they are not actually included with the rest of the images. That is what the question is about.

OK lets have another go:
With Picasa open click Tools then Folder Manager. Then in the windows that opens navigate to the folder where the images that you want to open are. What has it got against it a red cross, green tick or blue circle? Click on the Green cross (scan once) radio button. Click OK. You will see the images in the right hand pane. Double click on the one you want and it will open with the Basic Fixes, Tuning and Effects tags on the left. With the Basic Fixes tag clicked then that will show the Text icon click that and then follow the previous instructions in Post #18

Still no joy. I tried it by both selecting the green check, and by using blue circular arrow, using the latter, nothing happened when I select OK, but with the green check, it did start scanning...according to CPU activity. But when searching the images window, I couldn't find anything for Stargate SG-1, nor when I used the program's search window either. Since there are 10 seasons to that program, and for the fact that Picasa seems to display at least two of each image, it should have been easy finding them. I'm not positive, but I think that I used the Import selection on the File menu before, when they did appear...until I tried using the import again, and instead of importing, it exported the thumbs to the picture library.

As time goes by, I'm not growing any fonder of this program. I really dislike the scroll bar on the image window, because that instead of remaining at a position relative to where it is within the collection, it returns back to center when you release it. All that it really does is to control the speed at which the images scroll.

Excuse me Sir, but the one you uploaded earlier, and the one I did for you were PNG... (post 5 & 8 I saved as jpg)

Ditch Picasa if your not happy with it - it won't be a pleasure to do the work otherwise. You could try Zoner Photo Studio (which I used earlier for you). It's simple but feature packed...
