I have an Alienware M11x. It has an 11 inch screen and 1366x768 resolution. I just bought a AOC F22, a 22 inch monitor and its recommended resolution is 1920x1080. I've hooked up the monitor to the computer and installed the driver that comes with it but no new resolution options are available. The maximum is 1366x768. What do I have to do to get to the right resolution?

It sounds like you need to change the way the displays are set. If you are mirroring your displays, you may not get options above what the smallest one can show. Try outputting only to the monitor (usually a key sequence) and see if you get more options, including the native res for the AOC.

Thanks a lot man that was the problem. It's my first time dealing with more than one monitor, I knew nothing about it. Thank you.

No problem. I'm sure I learned that somewhere by fighting with an extra display, and asking on some forum. Glad it's working, and thanks for the rep!

That should be a function of your computer/laptop. I deal mostly with Dells, and they have a key sequence, usually FN+F8 that cycles through LCD screen, both monitors, or just the external. If you go with just the external, then you should be able to use it's native resolution.
