How to boot from new SSD

Hi,

I have successfully cloned my windows 7 partition onto a new SSD, however when I boot windows it loads from the old hard drive. How can I tell the MBR to boot from the new drive?

I cannot open the box to disconnect the old drive by the way.

There may be a setting in the BIOS that controls the boot order. You can test by hitting a key, usually F12 or another function key that temporarily changes the boot order. If you see the SSD in the list and can boot from it, then use the key on the next boot that goes into BIOS settings to change it permanently.

If you don't know the function key a search of your computer model and BIOS settings or boot order and function key should pull it up if you don't have the user manual.

Edit: It is not always a function key. Some systems pull up the BIOS settings using Del or another key. Usually the key flashes on screen with the boot messages.

Please post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image.

Please explain why you cannot open the case or access the old drive.

When you enter BIOS setup do you see BIOS Boot Order Priority, and have you tried setting the SSD first to boot there?

While in BIOS setup please look for a setting to disable the hard drive in case it is needed to remove it from the picture to repair the SSD boot, and you actually cannot unplug it.
