if your cable modem's ip is static why would you want to change it

alot of people pay alot of money to get a static ip
just what are you trying to change

how are you connecting the cable modem to the system

are you going str8 to the computer from the modem or to a router then to the computer

if you have a static ip and your going str8 though to the computer your crap outta luck as far as i know call your cable company and ask for a new ip address

if your going thought the cable to a router thats a different story your not looking to change your isp static ip your looking to change your computer network address

in win7 rc all vers click on the network icon in the clock area
then click on open network and sharing
you will get a new window

on your left hand side there is change adapter settings click on it

find your adapter in the listings

click on it to highlight it and then right click it

got down the list till you see internet protocol version 4(tcp\ipv4)

double click on that and then change your settings

make sure you know what your settings are before you change them

to undo this do the same thing then click obtain dns and ip automatically
