How to check for the latest Adobe flash PPAPI version

I have Opera and i can't tell whether my Adobe flash is up to date , how can i know what the latest version is manually?

The way I do it is to type:

operalugins

into the Opera address bar.

Or in newer versions of Opera it's:

opera://plugins

It seems that you didn't understand that Opera doesn't use the PPAPI version.

Thank you , yeah apparently not . So since i use Opera which Adobe do i go with ? Still confused about this unfortunately.

When you go to www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ it will show you the Flash version for the browser you're currently using.

Also displayed on that page are the 4 different Flash Player types for Windows:

• Internet Explorer (and other browsers that support Internet Explorer ActiveX controls and plug-ins)
• Internet Explorer (Windows 8)
• Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape, Opera (and other plugin-based browsers)
• Chrome (Pepper-based Flash Player)

Then you compare your Flash version to the listed(latest) version for your browser. If you don't have the latest version you can just click the link "Player Download Center" which is located above that list, to download and install it. On that download page it will for example show:
Your system:
Windows 32-bit , English, Firefox

As you can see in that list Firefox and Opera uses the same Flash Player. So for example if you're using both these browsers and you install a new Flash player version in Opera, you can then start Firefox and go to the above Flash About page and it should show you the latest version there too because they share the same Flash Player.
If you also use Flash in Internet Explorer you have to update Flash for that separately, by visiting the Flash About page in Internet Explorer, and from there download and install the latest version.

You need the NPAPI version for Opera.

You need the ActiveX version IF you want to view Flash videos in Internet Explorer.
You DO NOT need the PPAPI version.

You can open Control Panel > Flash Player to see what you have installed.

Correct, but note that clicking the Check Now button will only check the Flash Player version for your default browser.

Well there's some very good advice given by Tookeri and DavidE. It seems to me that you might be better off using third party software to check for updates.

Here's an example of software that will detect outdated versions of all flash player plugins (and most other software) and provide a link to install the updates when required. Personally I don't use this method - preferring to go down the full removal of flash player followed by a clean install every time that an update is available.

Which version of Secunia PSI are you using? Just to confuse things even more I seem to remember that the latest version runs as a service in the background at all times and if the GUI is left open when updating flash player it interferes with the process. Secunia PSI (from memory) is one of those programs that needs to be shut down when removing flash player. I'm not 100% certain though.

Like Tookeri says - just use Opera to browse to the flash player download page and follow the prompts.

Actually Adobe was only missing from Secunia when i installed the PPAPI version , when i realized i needed to download the NPAPI version Adobe showed in Secunia again.
