Just would like to know how to go about disabling certain processes that take up a lot of CPU usage. I run 7 in Parallels for some work that I do, and certain processes take a lot of processing time. I would like to know how to disable them to speed things up, etc.

I know it's somewhere in system or resource monitor, but can't quite remember.

You can temporarily(or permanently) turn off windows update. That is usually the culprit.

As mentioned, it's probably Win update.
See if it is working manually: %windir%\system32\wuapp.exe startmenu
If it runs forever, it's Win update. Then post a treat at this forum on http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/
I myself had a issue with it.
