How to dismiss "Could not reconnect all network drives" alert?

Hello, I have created 2 permanent network mappings to local drives for my phone, but I always get that "Could not reconnect all network drives" alert at logon. It's certain the phone is only occasionally connected so that the network resources are not always accessible. Is there a way how to tell Windows to remember those mappings so that I can open the associated driver whenever I connect my phone, but when not connected those drives will still exist but be inaccessible, same way as empty CD-ROM drive behaves.

If you right click on My Computer and select Disconnect Network drives, you can disconnect the current mapped drives. This will stop Windows from attempting to map the drive each time the computer starts, which results in the error message.

The easier method is to just use Windows Explorer when you plug in your phone or create a desktop shortcut to the phone's drive letter. Though the drive letter may change depending on the devices you connect/disconnect.

I have a very similar issue as well. I connected a little (mobile, USB-powered) HDD to my Boxee Box (media center, Linux, Samba) and it all works wonderfully, esp. after I mapped it as a network drive on my PC. One-click access, with password saved! Otherwise, anytime you want to add content to the disk (up to multiple times daily), you have to jump through a few more hoops, and re-enter the username and password every time.

As you can imagine, I really don't want/need a notification telling me my Boxee Box's HDD could not be reconnected. "Obviously, it's not even powered on." I can't believe there's not a way to disable the notification, or the check of all such mapped drives (or even better, just certain drives) at startup.

For now, I've just disabled (all) the balloon popups. Not a good solution. Perhaps I could un-map and just create a shortcut to the device, but I'd need to re-enter its password every time. Bah...

If I ever find anything that fixes this issue, I'll be sure to put it here. Advice is very welcome.

When you first map a network drive, there's a checkbox that says "Reconnect at Logon". When that box is checked, Windows will attempt to map the drive each time you boot up. So, it only makes sense for Windows to alert you when the drive can't be found, after telling Windows to do so.

Your other option is to uncheck the "Reconnect at Logon" box and just mao the drive when you need it. Or add a desktop shortcut to the drive.

That's true, I guess I did tell it to reconnect at logon. (Although, if you don't, it's designed to vanish upon restart.) I just think there should be an option to map a drive, save the username/password and not reconnect/check/notify at logon.

I think I'll see how it goes with un-mapping and creating a shortcut, and possibly removing the device's password (convenience, slightly less annoying), although I'll still have to enter the username. Mapping the drive is perfect... except for the popup notification.

Click your Start button and in the search box type Credential then click the link for Credential Manager. Click add a Windows Credential then add the UNC address for the mapped drive like \\computer name\share and add the user/pw you want to save.
