Hello dear friends,

I am here to ask for your help so I can get on using my new cpu. Before I say anything else here are my pc specs:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Old - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz which works fine at the moment.
New/Current - Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E8500 6M Cache, 3.16 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB
Mainboard Name: 0AA8h
Socket LGA775
Total Memory Size: 4 GBytes
PCI Express Version Supported: v1.1
PSU: 240 Watts
Current Integrated Graphic card
GT 610 1GB

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok so recently I have installed a dedicated video card gt 610 and I have decided to upgrade my cpu too so I went ahead and bought Intel E8500. So at first I was running windows 10 64bit on old cpu and it worked fine but when I have installed the new cpu the windows 10 froze on black screen which just windows 10 logo showing there was no spinning dots to indicate window would load.

So I have decided to repair the windows 10 via usb boot drive and that also froze the same way so I went ahead and bought a another cpu intel E8400 to eliminate the possibility of faulty cpu and when I have installed the cpu I faced the same problem but after spending lots of hours searching for answers online I have dual booted my pc with windows 7 64 bit while using old cpu E6850 and switched to E8500 after and I have made a little break through which meant I can boot in safe mode but sadly I still could not boot normally.

So I thought let’s try doing a fresh windows 7 install from a cd and I could not go pass the UI of windows installation process and I hit the driver_irql_not_less_or_equal everytime. I have also tired the other options which were available to me when i pressed F8 but only 3 safe boot option works that are safeboot, safeboot with networking and with command prompt.

I have done memory test using 3rd party tool on boot up and found no memory errors and I have also unattached any usb devices apart from mouse and keyboard. I have seen online to check in device manager to see if there are yellow or red indicators next to device names and I have found PCI Serial Port without a driver and I have disabled it for now and it seems to made no difference and I don’t know if it must require a driver and if this is part of the problem.

From my research and troubleshooting so far and I am came to a conclusion that the fault must rely on a driver so I dig around dump files which you find in zip file in attachment once u unzip you will find html report. First line will show the filename ntoskrnl.exe which caused the error and resulted in BSOD.
I have done what I could do to try and fix this error and it feels like it has defeated me so I came to this forum to find help and fix the painful error which caused me misery for past couple of weeks.

What I think could be causing his problem.
  • The graphic card
  • Since the cpu came out in 2008 it may not be fully compatible with windows 7 since it was released in 2009
  • Windows Vista or Windows XP may solve the problem
  • More then one partition may cause this due to dual boot windows 10/7 although windows 10 doesnt work with this cpu but has no problem running on E6850

NOTE: One thing which bugs me is why it doesnt allow new win7 to installed if there is a driver problem with current win7. But win7 is not unbootable like win10 so I am very confused.

Thank you
